Cook
Confident
A chef-led cooking course for your household helper.
-
Cook Confident is a four week cooking course for household helpers currently employed by a family in Abu Dhabi, cooking (or wanting to cook) for that household.
It is designed and taught by professional chef Jen Pomeroy. Running once a week for three hours, each small group session builds real kitchen skills and technique. With a mixture of hands on cooking and demonstrations from Jen, this course will give your helper the confidence and skills to cook well for your family.
Places are limited to four-six participants per group, keeping every session personal, hands-on and practical.
After trying each recipe, your helper brings home a taste of each recipe from the class.
Each participant gets a 60 page recipe and information set, a small kitchen tool kit, WhatsApp support during the course and for a month after and certificate on completion.
INVESTMENT: 495 AED per session / 1980 AED per 4 week course.
Please note: This group class is for household helpers only. If you are a beginner cook and are interested in this class, please choose the One on One class below or send Jen a message via the Contact Form.
-
If you're looking for something completely bespoke, Jen also offers a fully custom one on one course.
This course is designed from scratch around your family's specific cuisine or dietary needs and the skills your helper needs most. Get in touch to discuss what that looks like for you.

The Details
Located on Yas Island, in Jen’s home, the group classes run each week on a Wednesday from 10am-1pm.
A continuous theme of food safety, hygiene and knife skills run throughout each session. See below for more details.
-
To start we cover knife skills and safety. In this session we talk about preparing vegetables, roasting, grilling and blanching.
We make three delicious dressings and we learn how to mix and match everything to make 3-5 salads.
This class starts with the basics.
-
In this session we cover simple baking recipes, no knead foccacia, multiple breakfast dishes and how to cook eggs perfectly.
The techniques learnt in this session can easily follow through into other baking recipes.
In this session we focus on using measuring equipment and reading recipes.
-
In this class we cover basic sauces and how to turn them into balanced meals. Think bolognese, braised chicken, mashed potato and everything in between.
We also discuss how to utilise these base recipes to create more dinner options, what to prepare ahead and what can be frozen.
-
For the final session we cover cooking meat, safely and perfectly. We cover marinades and different cooking styles and match everything to the salads and sides from session one.
We also use this session to bring everything we learnt together over the last 4 weeks. We cover preparing in advance and how to form a balanced meal.
Each participant gets a certificate of completion and a small kitchen tool kit to take home and use.

The Beginners Cook Confident Group course and One on One course are designed around western-style home cooking - the everyday meals most commonly requested by expat households, (think roasts, pasta, salads, baking, and simple weeknight staples).
Plenty of the skills and techniques taught do carry over to other cooking styles. However, if your household has specific dietary preferences or needs, Jen offers custom one on one courses tailored to your family's exact meals, ingredients, and preferences. Enquire directly for pricing.
Not a household helper but want to learn how to cook? Jen has you covered too.

A clean house is lovely. But a home cooked meal on the table?
That's everything.
Most household helpers are willing, hardworking and eager to do a good job in the kitchen. What they often lack isn't effort, it's training. The kind of hands-on, practical cooking education that teaches them not just what to cook, but how to cook it well.
That's exactly what Cook Confident was created for.
